BODY KEEP THE SCORE: TECHNICS BEYOND TRAUMA

Thu, Jun 19 | 12:00AM - 1:30AM UTC
THE BODY KEEPS THE SCORE CHAPTER 7 GETTING ON THE SAME WAVELENGTH; ATTACHMENT AND ATTUNEMENT PART 4 “The roots of resilience...are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of a loving, attuned, and self-possessed other.” ― Diana Fosha There is no need to have read the book or the chapter. I will provide a summation of the chapter by bringing out ideas from the book and inviting people to discuss the ideas. Afterwards we have a 30 minute open chat about people's thoughts and experiences. Come as you are, no previous study required. We will share ideas on trauma and how to write a new script for a life beyond trauma. Trauma affects brain function, memory, and treatment outcomes. Trauma interferes with the brain circuits that involve focusing, flexibility, and being able to stay in emotional control. A constant sense of danger and helplessness promotes the continuous secretion of stress hormones, which wreaks havoc with the immune system and the functioning of the body’s organs. Writing a new script is one tool we can use to develop a new game plan, one outside the confines of living trauma.

Why Peer Support Matters for Attachment issues

Attachment issues, often rooted in early relationships, can impact how we connect with others in adulthood. Whether it manifests as fear of abandonment, difficulty trusting, or challenges in intimacy, the experience can be confusing and painful. Peer support helps individuals unpack these patterns in a compassionate space, often with others who relate. Sharing stories and hearing others’ breakthroughs promotes healing and helps participants develop healthier, more secure relationships moving forward.
