My name is Nicole, but most people call me Nikki, On July 9, 2025, I made one of the hardest and bravest decisions of my life. I walked away from a domestic violence situation. Walking away was not easy. It meant leaving behind a life I once thought I would have and stepping into an uncertain future, carrying fear, heartbreak, and questions about what would come next. But somewhere in the middle of all that darkness, I found s strength I didn't know I had, Leaving changed everything. It forced me to become stronger, not because I wanted to be, but because someone depends on me. I became a mother doing it on my own, raising my six-year-old son, who has ADHD and autism. There are days when being a single mom feels overwhelming. There are days when I am exhausted, scared, frustrated, and wondering if I am doing enough. But then I look at my son, and I remember why I keep going. He is my world. He is my world. He has taught me that love doesn't have to be perfect to be powerful. He has taught me patience, understanding, courage, and a kind unconditional love I never knew existed. I wouldn't change him, and I wouldn't change the journey that brought us here. I may have lost pieces of myself along the way, but I'm finding them again. I am learning that surviving isn't the end of the story. It is the beginning of someone new. I am Nikki I am a mother. I am a survivor I am still healing. I am still learning I am stilling becoming And after everything I've been though, I am choosing to build a life filled with peace, love, laughter, and hope-not just for my son but for myself. July 9, 2025, was the day I walked away. But it was also the day I started walking towards myself.
