Deirdre Millman
(She/Her/Hers)
I come to peer support with a long history of lived experience. I’ve navigated multiple traumas, beginning in childhood and continuing into young adulthood. For a long time, I believed I had made it through the worst of it. But when I spent 13 months in a wheelchair, everything resurfaced in ways I didn’t expect. No one tells you that trauma can be cyclical — that it can return when life becomes overwhelming or when your body goes through something destabilizing. Those experiences shape the way I show up in community. I understand what it’s like to feel unsteady, to rebuild, to navigate anxiety, dissociation, pain, mobility challenges, and the long tail of trauma. I also understand what it means to keep going, to learn from others, and to find connection in places where it feels safe to be fully human. I’m here because I want to learn from people walking their own paths, and because I hope to offer something meaningful in return. As a Certified Peer Specialist, I focus on creating spaces that are gentle, predictable, and grounded in autonomy — places where people can show up exactly as they are.

What I Hope to Share
As a Certified Peer Specialist, I’ve facilitated in‑person groups for Hearing Voices and Alternatives to Suicide, and those experiences taught me how powerful it can be when people come together with honesty and care. I’m here to connect with others who understand what it means to navigate hard things and keep going. I hope to meet new people, build real friendships, and be part of a community where we support one another with compassion, curiosity, and respect. My goal is to contribute a steady, gentle presence — and to learn just as much as I offer.
What Brought Me to ShareWell
I came to ShareWell because I know what it feels like to need a space that’s gentle, steady, and real. After navigating trauma throughout my life — and again when everything resurfaced during 13 months in a wheelchair — I realized how much we need places where we can show up exactly as we are. I’m here to learn from others walking their own paths and to offer support rooted in lived experience
Host Reviews
"Great host, I really appreciate the time, guidance, and insight you offer. I appreciate the group and I am so sorry for the struggles we're all going through. You all are full of experience and wisdom in my mind, and I feel from the universe's perspective as well. Thanks so much for a positive first experience!"
"Thank you for talking with and listening to me."
"The Host having really great lead in questions. Everyone in the group was easy to talk to. No one looked threatening. I surprised myself when I talked my first time ever joining a group. By the end of the session I was very calm!"
"I loved the group sharing format. Everyone was kind and respectful. I was concerned with the facilitator’s approach of relating a lot of experiences back to her. It happened up until the time we had to sign off. I would have liked her to have been more aware of professionally facilitating the group and how important it is to make the time about the people who are there and hold space without comparing. "
"I have learned so much from listening to other's coping with anxiety. I learn new things to try, reframing my thoughts and I gain strength by seeing others strengthen. Thanks Deirdre."
