Marwe
(She/they)
I’m a 60+ disabled author, living on social security. I had a 40 year career as a psychologist, wrote 15 or so books, spoke at conferences and authored CDs and DVDs, but that life is mostly past. At this point all of my family is gone, and I’ve chosen to live alone (with cat) to regain my mental & physical health after broken bones & too much trauma. I love it, and am healing well & thriving but for one thing. As involved as I am in local events and so on, I’ve found that no one listens or seems to truly care about me personally. I’m semi-active in my church and volunteer widely, but my effort is taken for granted. No one is really interested in connecting and honestly, I’ve grown tired of asking. I know a good part of this is due to my being Autistic, specifically AuDHD. Mine is the experience of many Autistic & ADHD folks. Particularly as we age, and old friends who knew us when we were young, super involved and highly productive, either pass on or lose touch. Today, I’m focused on restoring my health and emotional stability. My joys are writing, cats, coffee, yoga, maintaining a tiny pollinator reserve, and time spent in the forest. Redwood forests in particular, are my spiritual homeland.

What I Hope to Share
I hope to be listened to and gain any tips or insights people have, and can contribute my honest and open ears and heart, & my lifetime of experience and wisdom, such as it is.
What Brought Me to ShareWell
At this point I need to be listened to and treated with gentleness that doesn’t punish me for being an AuDHD person (Autism + ADHD), as I have been in groups & social settings. As a retired psychologist, I also need to be treated as just another member of the group, not someone who is relied on, or only valued for what therapeutic input I can bring. I don’t want and will not take on that burden. I’m looking for a place to be interacted with and valued with kindness, and primarily for my own self, and basic humanity.
