Melissa McCormick

I have spent a lot of my life trying to understand myself in pieces. Adoption gave me questions I did not always have language for. Recovery taught me that survival can look different from the outside than it feels on the inside. CPTSD and ADHD helped me understand why my mind, emotions, and nervous system often moved faster than the world around me seemed prepared for. For a long time, I thought I had to explain myself perfectly to be understood. I thought if I could find the right words, the right reason, the right version of the story, then maybe it would finally make sense. Over time, I started realizing that some stories are not meant to fit neatly into one box. Some of us have to understand ourselves in layers. That process is still part of my life. I am not here as someone who has everything figured out. I am here as someone who has learned the value of honest reflection, lived experience, humor, curiosity, and not turning every messy human moment into shame.

What I Hope to Share

I hope to offer the kind of space I needed at different points in my own life. A space where people can slow down, think out loud, be honest, be unsure, laugh at the absurdity of being human, and talk through what feels tangled without being rushed into a conclusion. I am not here to fix anyone or tell someone what their story means. I am here to listen, reflect, ask thoughtful questions, share lived experience when it is useful, and help people follow the thread until something starts to make more sense. More than anything, I hope people feel less alone, less ashamed, and more able to see themselves with honesty and compassion.

What Brought Me to ShareWell

I came to ShareWell because I felt something different here. It did not feel like another place asking people to shrink their story down into a label. It felt like a space where honesty, uncertainty, humor, grief, recovery, identity, and real human connection could exist in the same room. That matters to me because I know what it feels like to need a space where you do not have to make your story sound simple just so someone else can understand it. I wanted to be part of a place where people could bring the deeper layers, the unfinished thoughts, the complicated feelings, and still feel met with warmth instead of judgment.
