I'm Chanel Johnson, and I do this work because I lived it before I ever had a title for it. I know what it feels like to carry things you can't name yet, to hold it together for everyone around you, and to wonder if anybody sees what that costs you. I was already the person people called when things got heavy, sitting with family, friends, and strangers in their hardest moments with honesty and presence, not clinical language. When I discovered peer support had a name and a way to do it with training and intention behind it, I knew this was my lane.
What I Hope to Share
I hope to contribute a space rooted in honesty, care, and lived experience, especially for members who don't always see themselves reflected in traditional support spaces. I want to bring the same energy I carry in every room I walk into: you belong here, you don't have to perform, and your story matters. What I hope to gain is connection. I want to learn from other peers, hear other stories, and continue growing in this work alongside people who understand why it matters. Peer support is not something you do alone, and being part of a community like ShareWell reminds me of that.
What Brought Me to ShareWell
I came to ShareWell because I was looking for a platform that matched how I already show up, as a peer, not a clinician. ShareWell centers lived experience, community connection, and honest conversation, and that's exactly how I've always done this work. It gave me a space to offer support the way I believe it should be offered, where people can feel safe, be themselves, and know they're not alone.
