Take space and make space

Wed, Jun 17 | 6:00PM - 6:30PM UTC
In our faith, we are called to love one another, to listen to one another, and to walk alongside each other. Making space for others means we choose to slow down, open our hearts, and allow room for someone else’s voice, story, struggle, or joy. It means: We don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes the greatest ministry is listening. We allow others to shine. If someone has a gift, insight, or experience, we let them speak. We don’t compete — we celebrate their voice. We respect that everyone’s journey is different. Not everyone will be in the same place spiritually or emotionally. Making space honors the pace God is working in them. We avoid taking up all the emotional or conversational room. We don’t dominate the moment. We share and we invite others to share. We remember that God speaks through many people. Not just leaders. Not just the outspoken. God uses the quiet ones, the healing ones, the unsure ones, the returning ones, the newly learning ones. > “In this group, we honor what God is doing in every person. Making space means we listen, we don’t interrupt, we don’t rush to fix, and we don’t assume we know what someone needs. We slow down and allow each person to feel seen, heard, and safe. Because growth happens where love makes room.” Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. James 1:19 Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. What We Do Why It Matters We let everyone speak before we respond So every voice is valued We ask questions instead of assuming So we understand, not just answer We hold silence when needed Sometimes healing happens in quiet moments We offer grace instead of judgment Because grace is how God healed us

Topic context

Understanding christian mental health

Faith can be a source of comfort — but it can also bring internal conflict, especially when beliefs evolve or clash with personal experiences. Struggles around identity, community, or doctrine can leave you feeling isolated even within your own faith tradition. Peer support provides a respectful environment to explore spiritual questions and challenges without judgment. Whether you’re reconnecting with your beliefs or redefining them, sharing your story with others on similar paths can bring clarity, peace, and a sense of belonging.

Why it helps

How peer support helps with christian mental health

Peer support helps Christians navigating mental health because faith communities do not always have language for anxiety, depression, doubt, or burnout. A peer group can hold both: real talk about what you are carrying, and the spiritual context that matters to you. You do not have to translate either side.

Frequently asked questions

Are these groups affiliated with a specific church or denomination?

No. ShareWell groups are peer-led and not tied to any single church or denomination. Members come from many Christian backgrounds, and the focus is honest conversation, not doctrine.

Can I talk about doubt or church hurt in these groups?

Yes. Doubt, deconstruction, and church hurt are common topics. Peers in these groups understand that faith can be complicated, and the space is meant for honesty, not performance.

Is the group going to push religion on me?

No. These groups are for people who already identify with Christianity and want peer support inside that context. The conversation respects whatever your relationship with faith looks like right now.
